Where are email data files stored on Windows 10?

For the life of me I can't seem to find the folder location anywhere on C drive.

I have searched the web and been through numerous Youtube videos, but they all seem to refer to Old Outlook, while I have New Outlook on Windows 10.

This comes up:

Does this mean I need a Microsoft 365 subscription?

Will it then store my files on my HDD. If so, where are my emails currently being stored, surely my HDD?

On Windows 7 in Windows Live Mail, the folder was easy to find, now it's like it doesn't exist.

I don't want my emails stored in the cloud, I want them on my HDD.
 
Uninstall new Outlook and install Outlook classic from the MS store.

New Outlook is crap.

In Windows 10, Outlook PST (Personal Storage Table) files are typically stored in the Documents\Outlook Files folder within your user profile.

Specifically, the path is usually C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Outlook Files, where <username> is your Windows user account name.

If you're using an older version of Outlook, the PST file might be located in a different folder, such as C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.



To find the exact location of your PST file:
  1. Open Outlook: Launch the Microsoft Outlook application.
  2. Go to Account Settings: Click on the "File" tab, then select "Account Settings" and choose "Account Settings" again.
  3. Navigate to Data Files: Select the "Data Files" tab.
  4. Locate the PST file: You'll see a list of data files. The PST file you're looking for will be listed there.
  5. Open File Location: Click on the "Open File Location" button to open the folder where the PST file is stored.
Alternatively, you can also use the search function in File Explorer and type ".pst" to find all PST files on your computer.


Note: If you can't see the Documents\Outlook Files folder, you may need to enable the option to view hidden files and folders in File Explorer.

Can you not find Google either??

I've tried all of those things......

Even done a search of the whole C drive for *.pst. Nothing.

Gonna try old Outlook, just hope it can import my emails (wherever the heck they are) which I have from new Outlook.

There is no File option to click on.

Ok, but how do I backup my messages (.pst files).

The Store doesn't seem to have the classic. I did download it but it says you need to pay:

Ridiculous that Microsoft think they are the only ones that may control your data.

If the emails are still on the server you could link your account with Thunderbird and then backup the emails through Thunderbird.
 
You won't believe this, but to use the Classic Outlook you need a product key for Office.

What a load of bollocks.

It's been like this since forever.

Lemme guess you got that current "sub" free with your pc/laptop? And now the honeymoon phase is over.

Luckily some guys sell Office for very cheap here on Mybb using "legal" keys...

You are running the "free" online only version that comes "bundled" with your OS ... Mail is in the cloud.

EDIT: The location of mail has nothing to do with W10 ;)
 
New Outlook is just terrible. Will try get Classic up and running. Already imported my MWEB email accounts.
 
Screw it, I went with Thunderbird, looks great.

Man, can't believe they would release Windows with such a piece of crap like New Outlook.
