Where buy a USB 56K data/fax modem?

Believe it or not I need two USB data/fax modems that'll work with Win8. Anyone have any idea where I can get these?

Surprised no one asked WHY????

They're old school favorites for backup connection in scenarios where very little data needs to be transferred. (SSH)

Hell our IT guys set up all our corporate laptops with 56k dialing details loaded on the off chance there is an emergency scenario where it would help. (Don't recall it ever being used).

Loled about this site

http://www.intsol.co.za/old/modems.htm

Even the scrolling text seems a bit old
That's because the webpage comes from 2003.

I'm hoping someone here has actual personal knowledge of who actually sells these things ... It's pretty easy to find twenty websites using search engines, but none of the ones I called today have stock and say they can't get anymore.

My use? Remote management via RDP of landline Plus Services, especially switching Call Forward on and off, and remotely programming in new Call Forward numbers using touch-tones.

I actually have two ancient Smartlink V90 modems, but no drivers for anything after XP.

Well they got the vibe exactly right...pretty sure I'd rather buy a 56k modem from them than a place with a flashy site. :D

Or maybe someone just has a wicked sense of humour....56k sale website...no heavy gfx.

Have you tried the generic windows drivers?
Not that Im even sure win8 has them, they worked fine in win7 though.

The rise of the mighty dial up account. USRobotics 33.6k! Wow mighty machines they once were.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and guidance.

Just to close the loop. I called maybe ten different places in SA, and none could supply.

So I ended up ordering from a supplier in Shenzhen, China, these at $9.88 each:

I also ordered some USB3-to-HDMI adapters. Should be here by the middle of next week.

Final post on this, FYI:

1. Modems ordered from Shenzhen China on Friday 15 Aug. Paid by PayPal.
2. Delivered to door in SA on Wed 20 August.
3. Plugged in on the USB hub, driver auto-installed from Win8.1 PnP - no need for CD-based drivers.
4. All working fine.
5. Satisfied.
