I want to upgrade the RAM on an old PC. However, I have difficulty finding stores that still sell 512Mb SDRAM PC133 (168pin). Anyone know a store in Cape Town that sell it, at a reasonable price?

My current configuration is 1x128Mb, 1x128Mb, 1x256Mb (only 3 slots). I want to replace one 128Mb with 512Mb.

my friend that live in durban has got my old 1GB pc133 stick il phone him and maybe he can give it to you for like a R100... let you know

Nice! I just checked the motherboard's (Intel D845HV) user manual and the tested RAM is only specified for up to 512Mb sticks... but for R100 I'll try a 1Gb stick anyway. :)
Doomie, send me a PM if the 1Gb SDRAM is available. Just check that is indeed a 168pin.

I know a guy in Cape town, who still get allot of 2nd hand parts, SD ram and also socket 478 boards.
i can find out tomorrow what he asks?

speakin of scarce old type RAM... I need 512Mb ECC type 266Mhz RAM (u know those big old error correcting chips) for XEON server,
having trouble with normal (newer, more readily available) 333Mhz or 400Mhz chips, damn thing just shows me the finger on bootup, wants ECC... seems easier to find hoenertanne :D

Just checked TVR's pricelist. They have them listed. Will find out if they have stock tomorrow.

The only interest I have in this thread is viewing others experiences and I'm impressed that someone has a 1GB SDRAM. What are you on about Mr Almost-10 000?

Will this fit in my P3? It is a 733Mhz one. No idea about the mobo...How do I know if it's 168 pin or not?

yes, its will fit your P3, there was no other RAM type around at that time...

I just inherited a P3 1Ghz with 2 x 256MB modules yesterday :)

Sweet! Maybe globetrotter will want to throw that 128MB module my way if he finds a 512MB one somewhere....

i also only have three slots...

LOL @ at telkomisaloser

lol at SSS.

Lighten-up SSS, Telkomisaloser was just adding an observant colourful dig at your growing business reputation.

I even punted you somewhere cause someone wanted to buy something.

lol, i was just being agroish too see his reaction lol, im normally very chill :D

I am in a transitioning phase for my business so its slightly on hold for the next two weeks...

The 1gb pc133 sdram is VERY expensive. The Kingston ECC registered ones go for up to R15 000 a module and more..

Answer to Ram needed x2

Phone this guy for 2nd hand:
Warren: Tel: 073 279 6451.
He will find you ram.
Else you can buy it brand new for:
256 - R286
512 - R570
the new ones are very expensive, and i will never buy it new.
