Well this is so rediculous I just have to tell somebody although Im sure there are many such like stories,On the morning of the 19th my line got suspended
Imediatly I phoned Telscum on the cell phone,,The story goes my line has been cut as there was a short payment on the account, when I paid the account I didnt bother with the exact amount as I had two weeks prior lodged a query on my line for an amount of R672 the account was R1580 I paid R1500 knowing the risk of not paying the amount in query. After 37minutes of sheer agony I was left with a situation where I had to pay the R80 or no go, so off to the telscum office, according to them there is no query lodged at all hence the cut so we go through all that again,, I pay,, the whole ordeal wasting at least three hours they (manager) confirm that they understand and sympathise and that within the hour(1pm) my line will be connected
The next morning still no line I try to phone the telscum office guess what no numbers listed they dont take calls you have to go in and see them,,Now Im cooked I contact the mall managment and demand a number after the 3rd time of letting the phone ring forever the manager answers and I let her have it A little while later my line is connected but no dsl, I spend most of yesterday afternoon phoning telkom spoke to 3 accounts ladies one cut me off after half an hour on the phone you cant phone the same lady back they cannot transfer so you start all aover again, adsl techies and my isp all assure me no problem with the line the last telkom techi suggests i disable my firewall and eventualy tells me the only other thing can be my router i should take it back to where i bought it now Im meef and confused, waisted most of the day so I choose to give it a rest. This morning the bust router is bothering me so i decide to phone telkom again new techie , he tells me my line is still suspended i need to phone accounts,,,well,,,I phone accounts and to my amazment I end up talking to Michelle she is efficiant and has a brain, what a bonus, tells me she will send email to instruct reconnect,,,Im not listening and want her to speak to the guy who pushers the button,,,her managers manager gets involved i rev him out of the park he phones the guy who reconnects, the same guy they said they could only email,,,Bad news from him, the whole area is down and will take 72 hours,, buy this time ive got names and positions of all of them and i demand the number of the Boss who managers the guy who pushers the button,,the Oke on the others side is very unhappy but cant win against me im like a pitbull thats tasted blood so he gives me the number
With a dry mouth i head off to make tea i come back guess what back on line
All i want to know is where do I send my invoice because like them I too can invoice for all kinds of ****.

One advice, always pay the full amount on your invoice and then go screw them! I know you lending them money that way, losing interest, but still. Otherwise **** like this happens ...

i was lucky. they overcharged me by a huge amount when i installed my adsl line and again when i cancelled my infinitcall subscription. so i paid the amount excluding the infinitcall and the amoutn above the line rental and they seem to have got it right.

again, luck was on my side :)

Had the same issue when they installed my adsl line. As sf1 said pay the full amount (within reason and assuming you can afford it) and then fight. I know it sticks in throat to pay tel*** something they are not due but this route seems to work with their stupid system the best.

Just to clarify - I never advocate overpaying on an overstated bill. Just made an exception for the once off installation to avoid cut offs and other complications

I regularly short pay, not much R100 to R200. Never had any problems, just pay extra the following month.

Damn, we moved house on the 31st May. I called Telkom on the 20th May to tell them I wanted my line moved because I was moving. No problem, give them my new address et al and I thought all was OK. So we move and I call Telkom to find out dates, they tell me installation is due in the 15th. I assume 15 June. No, no, no. 15th July, the useless barstewards. No worries I call a mate who knows asomeone who know someone and whadda ya know, I have a Telkom techy on my doorstep 2 days later, beautifull. Not really no. He comes inside an checks things out only to find that there is not line from the street to the house. F@#k i say and get him to call the planning devision to get the sods out that pull wire. 1 week later they eventually arrive only to find that the draw wire is stuck because the distance from the street to the house is to far for 1 continuous wire. I get a guys in to dig up the frigging driveway 4 days later and bam-zip-pow I have a wire that can be pulled. I call Telkom and tell them they can send the wire-pullers around to sort out the crap and what happens, they send the ADSL guys round to connect me. Damn I'm getting way frustrated now so I call them again. Same story again, they send the techy for ADSL connectivity. Eventually a week later I get the wire-pullers to sort me out then I call Telkom to send this pesky techy guy again. Sorry sir but he'll only be available again in 2 weeks. WTF??? Next day i get a call from the techy, "Mr Spencer, I'm at you door to install your ADSL are you at home?" OMFG i could hardly believe my ears.

Well all is installed and working well at last I think, wrong. I received a bill for R1200 from telkom for call charges on my line at the house I haven't lived in for the past 40 odd days. The new owner of the house we just moved out of has connected his own damn telephone and racked up R1200 in calls in 40 days. Telkom of course didn't automatically suspend the line when we left.

All under investigation at athe moment which will probably take the better part of 6 months.

/Rant over

Teklom Line suspended, pickup suspended handset and dial 10210 - it still works even with the line "Cut". So does 10111 by the way.

They have to make sure 10111 works when your line is suspended, otherwise if you have an emergency and you can't call the cops - you can take their @sses to court.
