Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my stainless steel pans/pots and wondering if there are any decent local South African places/sites where chefs/cooks buy their cookware from? I want to buy very good quality, well designed (don't care about brand name) that will last a long time.

I've been looking at All clad / Tramontina tri ply S/S (or similar alternatives) but you don't get it locally and it costs a lot to import them. Where do local chefs buy their cookware from? Or is it just worth biting the bullet and importing from overseas?

If anyone has any insights I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Probably not what you're looking for but I use the brand they have at Makro's catering section. Cast aluminium. I use it on a gas stove and have had no problems after years of use.

Banks is probably what you're looking for.

I’m not a chef.
But I enjoy cooking at home when I get a chance.

Many years ago, I bought copper pots from a place in lanseria just near the airport.
It’s called culinary kitchen.

I want one of those tiny whisks I keep seeing on YouTube. Where can I get them?

me and you on the same boat. I looked at Amazon and whilst some they would ship for those brands others will not

I’ve cooked using many different SS pots, inc AMC. The best value for money IMHO, are those sporting the Aloe mark. I think I bought a set from Game, and they were awesome.

Although a word of caution, dont rush in there with a credit card, that place will break you if you enjoy cooking.
Just so many nice toys gadgets and cookware

I use yuppiechef. Don’t know if it’s good enough but it can be damn pricey if that’s any indicator of quality
