Dolby, yes, your concerns are understandable. Fortunately for me I don't use that virus prone OS, so I'm not worried. I have access to machines (legitimately) I can use to check out sites like these, and even if the spammer/scriptkiddy comes back to probe my IP, I'll know about it and probably gather enough information to notify his ISP.
I wouln't recommend trying it out if you don't really know what you're afer, what the risks are and how to deal with a cracker engagin you, but there are some simple ways to check out these sites without causing too much harm. Text mode web browsers (like lynx, for example) are quite useful. There is always the danger, that the link contains a string that will confirm that you received the mail. So again, don't try this at home.
