Does it make a difference where one purchases a wii from?
From ebay I can get them shipped either USA, UK or Japan model?
What are the implications game wise, are they compatable - I thought also Japan was NTSC but an ebay seller (powerseller 99.9 positive) guarantees me its PAL - its the best deal I've found so far, so is it ok to get?
Where would I get games from if I get any model? Its a bit confusing when there is no official launch
Thanks

K;
Wii from the US/Canada plays NTSC games only
Wii from the Japan plays NTSC-J games only
Wii from the UK/EU plays PAL games only

If we ever get the Wii, it will be PAL.
Getting one from the US is cheaper and so are the games (check out the price differences on take2.co.za)
It'll probably be easier to get a Japan one, but I'm not sure if all the games will have an English language option.

Personally I have a US (NTSC) one and not looking back for half a second

I would get an NTSC system, ie American. Its runs nominally faster than PAL and the virtual console does nto ahve an border like with the PAL system.

Also, apparently a Freeloader for the Wii is already in development....this is a disc that enales a Wii to run Wii discs that are in the other format....ie running a PAL disc on a NTSC machine.

Hi
I was also under the impression that Japan consoles are NTSC/J so not sure why the seller says its PAL?
Re the disc - yes I also read that there is some boot disc coming out soon that will make the wiis compatible with games world wide.
Last question re the USA wiis - is there not a power issue with 110w?

Got a link for this wii?
bootloaders are always inevitable ;)
110v power is easily solved with a 60 rand converter :D

It really does not matter which console you have since you can just use the freeloader.

HOWEVER the difference comes with the VC games.

Japan gets kickass games BUT only in japanese.
US gets good games and yes runs a bit faster.
EUR gets mostly what US gets.( Rumors are that europe will get the games that was never released over in eur (chrono trigger , mario rpg) and even some japanese games that will be translated.
