Where is fibre going to?

There is a lot of fibre cable being laid Cape Town's southern suburbs. Some 300m from my house!

A dumb question for those in the know, but where is this cable coming from / going to? There are no exchanges, cellular masts in the areas they are currently laying the cable!

Walk 300m and ask the guy that is standing and doing nothing where its coming from and where its going to

Part of City of CT's fibre network project AFAIK, linking up all the local govt buildings and also used for CCTV camaras and traffic info I think. Phase 1 covered the CBD & northern subs.

Would be awesome to plug into that.

A lot of the fibre that is being installed now is for FTTBusiness and FTTCurb. Fibre is becoming a cost effective solution for medium and large business customers and for bringing the DSLAM closer to the consumer.
