where is my exchange

I want to know what exchange I am on and how far away am I from it.

I live in Claremont on eden road.

most probz claremont or Clareinch exchange.

Yes it probably is, looking at you line attenuation and knowing how far the closest exchange is can be helpful.

Telkom doesn't really divulge in this type of information AFIK

I asked the telkom operator and she said I was 2.5-2.8km away from the nearest exchange, yet my line attenuation is 63.5db downstream whereas it should be around 45-50db, any suggestions?

BTW I live in senderwood

i found out that mine is roughly 3.5km cz my line attenuation was 45db

Call Telkom on 0800 375 375 and ask for a LTS line test. The LTS system can determine the distance amongst other things

Uhmm I wouldn't call it exact, for exammple saying because my attenuation is 60 db I must live 5.265 km away from the exchange.
There are other factors that come into play too.

oh yeah forgot to mention, the operator also said they were doing something on the exchange (she had no idea what), so maybe that maintenance (or whatever) could be causing such high line attenuation?
