Where is the security ?

From the 'New MTN EDGE Pricing thread' :

The firewall rules are quite strict to prevent hacking and IP-attack from other 'infected' users so this is mainly web. e-mail, ftp, MSN messenger and the like. Certain ports are closed and one user cannot ping another user.

I've just connected with Prepaid to the 'internet' APN. Like you say, pinging is blocked.

But tcpdump reported that some computer (172.26.177.186) did try to open port 445 on my computer....

B.t.w. pings times are about 1100ms. (tcpdump of a DNS lookup).
