As above, I will come into some money and need to stash it somewhere. Its not much but will still probably be worth trying to gather some interest

Is this money that you can stand to lose? Sounds like inheritance?

You could put it in a Fixed Deposit or Money Market with low returns but ultimately it's guaranteed not to go anywhere.

Or you could put it into ETF's...I would say 50k into 3 different ETF's covering three different underlying stock groups.

Or do both...

Put 50k into a Fixed Deposit that is 100% safe, then put 50k into a Dividend ETF like Satrix Divi or Divtrax or one of those and the other 50k into a wider variety to sell after the period.

Could also do a rand hedge one like DBX WLD I guess.

Nedbank 32 Day call account will get you around R900 odd interest a month. 7.35% If you are happy with a very safe option

If you need it in a year then money market account. It should grow approximately with inflation so you will have equivalent back in a years time.

If you don't need it and not sure what will happen next year I would go the equities route. Probably drip feed over a few months into a few ETFs as suggested , while keeping the rest in money market while waiting to feed into equities

Its not 100% guaranteed I will have it, there's a reasonably good chance I am moving companies and this money is my accrued provident. I would move it to another provident as it is taxed upon withdrawal however I will probably be emigrating at some point in time next year at which point I would withdraw it anyway.

Give someone assistance on MMM, and get some assistance from other people to make your money grow.

Or, since you are emigrating, put it in a foreign currency linked EFT like the Allan Gray Orbis funds. Get some growth while protecting against possible Rand devaluations.

Get in touch with a proper financial planner who should be able to properly explain to you options for growth vs risk vs investment period.

In that case why only for a year? YOu need it accumulating wealth for life.

So just keep it where it is (convert it to the Umbrella or whatever they call it) and then move it across if/when you do actually emigrate.

It will probably make more money in that fund than any other anyway.

Well I would like to use 40kish of it to settle all remaining debts, the amount is actually around 190k.

I guess it depends what'll cost more, interest on my debt, or money lost from withdrawing/ investing my provident.

I would say the "average" interest rate on my debt is around 19%

You are allowed to pull out a certain amount cost/tax free so find out what that is and pay the debt with that.

Then migrate the rest to the Umbrella Fund and leave it there.
