Where to get a Droid sttreaming media player

I have to go hand in the last of my MyGica ATV582s today. Just had enough of the POS. Takealot refunded me for the one, the other one I need to give back to Makro.

Anyway, if I unplug and return the last one, I would need to come back with a replacement streaming device. What is a good device that I can buy over the counter or F2F from someone. Cheap would be good, but it need to have its **** sorted. No wonky software or remote. If I press a button, it must respond immediately.

What suggest you? Budget R100-R2000.

This requirement will seriously hamper you. There is a legion of excellent products like this, online locally. Wait a day or 2 for delivery rather.

Oh and I hope you meant R1000-R2000.....
 
The mxq 4k players on bidorbuy work well enough as a budget player. Havent had issues for R500 or so. Not bad

Had a look at them. Spec is lower than the ones I am binning. Some also say the software is wonky, so not sure if I should go for it.

R1000 falls within R100-R2000.:D
 
Mi Box, check with geewiz if they have stock. I know they were receiving a shipment recently so they might have stock.
 
@OP As for "wonkey" remote, look for a device that supports CEC so you just use your TV remote to control it .... also the responsiveness is directly related to the Processor & amount of RAM. I wont touch anything that has under 2gb DDR3 system RAM. The H96Pro+ has 3gb RAM and the Amlogic S912 chip (2ghz Octo Core) and has the ARM Mali-T820MP3 GPU.
 
The main irritation with these cheaper TV Boxes are the ir remotes
To improve your experience 1,000 % - use a wireless mouse
Remote is only usefull for the Power On/Off button ;-)
 
If you prepared to spend more than the R2000 budget, I have a Mygica 1960, it 100000 times better than 582.
 
If you are only into watching shows then you really want either (1) an Android TV device and not some hacked android box running modded software or (2) an Amazon Fire TV device.

As far as I know these are your best options at the moment for Android TV:
1. - if you can stretch your budget by another grand or so - Nvidia Shield - on import. The best. Full stop.
2. Xiaomi Mi Box - Capable player which will not disappoint. Within your price range if you via Gearbest.
3. Telkom LIT Box - Just as capable but with some bugs such as non working voice search, no genuine Netflix support yet until Netflix add the LITbox support (need to sideload a modded version). But it also have some extras that the Mi Box doesn't have such as Ethernet plug and Android 7 (vs Android 6 on Mi-Box). Available at Telkom shops - R1099 - just get A07 version.
