where to get a pvr decoder?

where can i buy a pvr decoder for a good price in dbn? (i need dual view)
not HD im not there yet lol

As far as I know, you will now have to purchase two 1110 decoders to get the dualview functionality. You will not be able to purchase a new dualview decoder anymore.

Multichoice currently is rnning a special for the 1110 decoder for a price of R319 as far as I can recall.

Either buy 2 x 1110 decoders, R399 each
or try find somewhere still selling SDPVRs

Otherwise plan for the future and get an HDPVR and 1110, HDPVR is R2 499 at Makro, price has gone up to over R3k at most places now

i don't know what a 1110 decoder is... can i record on it?
are the only PVR decoders available at this point in time the HD PVRs ?

You may still be able to get SDPVR's from Marko for about R2k..

But you may be better off future proofing yourself and getting a HDPVR and the cheapie R399 1110 (its the small single decoder)...

Then you'll get 2 recording channels and 2 viewing...

Just dont buy from multichoice directly, rather from either Makro or HiFi Corp.

to consilatate all above you have few choises if you want 2 viewing and pvr functionality
a look at dstv website for sales of second hand SD pvr decoders, I dont think any ones sell them new anymore. - you get to view 2 chanels and record 1 more at the same time
buy a HD pvr and a 1100 or 1131 decoder and conect the 2 together. - you get to view 2 chanels and record 2 moreat the same time
get 2 HD pvr decoders and conect the 2 together - you get to view 2 chanels and record 4 more at the same time
get the second hand sd pvr and conect it with an HD pvr - - you get to view 3 chanels and record 3 at the same time
honestly the sd pvr is the best and easiest to install if you dont need HD.
I have a HD pvr conected to a 1110. it works out og for me - and i dont have an HD tv yet either

and subscription for all above options is the same

oh and a 1100(and 1131) are the basic dstv decoders no recording functions. the 1110 has the little screen on the front so you know what chanel you are on
