Where to get a wireless AC access point?

Browsing around now looking for a wifi ac access point but coming up empty.

I'm not looking for a DSL router with wifi, I want a plain wireless AP without any modem or fancy shmancy routing stuff.

What are my options?

Netgear used to make them.... I have one at home used in reverse i.e. to connect a wired ethernet device to WiFi. Can't remember what the model number was, but maybe searching with netgear in mind, might yield some results..

EDIT: have one at home... made by Fujitsu... got it from work a couple of years ago...

Haven't seen an AP , but the TP-link archer routers are meant to be decent. There are non ADSL ones here : www.dbg.co.za/index.php?cPath=1_55_56

And you can run them in AP mode

You do get cheapy wireless AP's but if I was you (and this is what I did at home) I'd get an old wireless router. You can get them for next to nothing at second hand stores or for free if you ask friends and family. Old routers are everywhere.

Bought some TP-Link extender/repeater/ap combos from Computer Matrix few months back. Work perfectly.

Those seem to be the only option at the moment. Pretty pricey though.

The cheapest is R699 ex vat . Until AC becomes standard, prices won't drop. If you buy from them dont forget to ask for the Mybb discount

Are you referring to the wifi AC version as the OP specified or the N version?

The cheapest TP-LINK at Matrix was R266 odd..
Or get a 2nd hand Linksys WRT54GL and install ddwrt on it
