How'd you do that? VGA needs 15 pins, cat5 only has 8 cables? Isn't the picture horrible?

I used these instructions, and it works great for me, I have to mention that I'm not using it on a high res screen, regular 15" LCD...if that would make a difference, dunno.

Get an old 1m cable cut it in the middle... then use two Cat5 cables to extend it... should work fine....

yeah... until the 3rd time you move your laptop on your lap and the plugs where they join pulls out .... then u will think 'why didnt i just spend the R200 for a proper cable'

That isn't a possibility, judging by this thread. Unless you know where I can get a 1.8m cable?

Looking for some help - found a 50m VGA cable here in the UK (http://www.aandcaudio.co.uk/vga-cables-b34) but unsure as to whether it will work...
- does length matter?
- does quality? (should I opt for a brand name - if so, any suggestions?)
