So I am looking to build a small home lab, preferably with Cisco gear, anyone possibly know where one can get decommissioned network gear and or servers?

My best bet would be ebay. You can get stuff really cheap(even with the dollar exchange). Shipping (from some suppliers) is not bad either.

Yep I'm up in Gauteng, want to use it to study for CCNP as well as MCSA.

If you have a notebook with 4-8gig ram you can simulate everything on your notebook.

Years ago I went through the process of buying stuff, and i dumped everythin 2 months ago (early spring cleaning)

I have a contact in SomersetWest that would courier pre loved Cisco stuff to you, I were in PTA on that stage, trustable guy, and I went to his place to collect stuff locally aswell

If you are interested, I can help you installing and getting your test lab running, and showing howto on your notebook

Or I can give you the Cisco contact details
There is a guy selling a Dell R210 server for R1500 on this forum

I organised for two Catalyst 2950's if I'm not mistaken and one router. Can that somehow be incorporated with the virtual ones? Or would it be easier/better to get another router and switch to complete it?

With GNS you load acctual router images, and yes, you can combine external devices and your simulated ones
