I am new to GW. Started playing GW prophecies on 8 October for the first time, so I am a real noob. I read a couple of things on this forum and saw that you can buy good weapons etc. for a heap of plats/gold, but I can't for find these NPC's anywhere to buy it. Do I have to wait to get to the elite areas? Links or advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Also I am playing W/E any assistence or link to a nice build would be great. I am currently playing with an axe. Any reasons why this is not a great idea? should I switch to sword or hammer? I am currently only playing PVE and probably will be for a while.

So sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere in this forum.

Hiya mate.

Do you have a guild yet? If not come join ours.

For some nice builds go to PvXwiki.com and for a wealth of knowledge google guildwiki.

As for the elite weapons you can only buy them later in the game. Do note that there is a max damage for every weapon... in guildwars you pay for the rarety of the weapon. Thus the weapon you buy for 1000 gold and the one costing 100 000 gold wil do the same damage, the one just looks better :)

You can also only buy the really expensive weapons from players and not from NPC's. Go to the trading spots (LA, Spamadan and Kaineng, American districts) to check for weapons being advertised, but be prepared to fork out some serious plat!

NPC Collectors / Crafters have some very decent weapons, you get most of the good weapons at the end games of the campaigns, which is reasonable seeing that they are not expensive.

What the lads are trying to say is GW is about attaining skill - not gear. Everyone's gear is the same, what matters is your build and your epic skills, which you can change for free everytime you're in an outpost unlike WoW etc.

Ok so ...

My Emo is lvl 20 and still wearing lvl 10 armor :(

I CAN buy normal lvl 20 armor, but it looks terribly gay. I've checked out the armor sets on guildwiki but it doesn't seem to be close to anything that just about everyone is wearing all over.

Where do I go to find something half decent to wear? I went to the EOTN basecamp and the snotty armor sales guy won't sell me anything until I have some rep 1st. Racist.

Should I just splash out and get lvl20 armor for the time being anyway? Not sure how long it'll take me to make back the cash...

Voicy, I recommend getting some basic, cheap max armor and then get to the right level of cash and reputation and get some armor from EOTN... it has the best ele armor for males.
There are some nice female ele armors in NF, but it depends if you like the minimalistic look ;)

You mean skank right? :D

Nah my dude is a dude. I'll just buy random max armor in the Nightfall cave or summing.

I need to go back and finish the prophecies mission chain anyway ... right now I'm scattered ALL over doing silly quests :/

Itsby bitsy, teenie weenie :D

Yes, that can very easily happen... Running around from one quest to the next.
I often check my list for quests that are in the same area and then do them all in one go... that stops you from going back and forth, especially when some quests send you all over the place.
