Now, I know this must have been asked a couple of times, but I'm hoping someone has a secret number or connection in Telkom that actually knows something.

As posted in some of the other complaints threads I've been waiting since the 6th of March for installation of a telephone and ADSL. Calling today I was informed my expected date of service delivery is the 30th of November. 9 months later.

I find this impossible as I have now spoken to two Telkom technicians who worked in the area I stay(one was there this morning when I left for work), both have informed me the lines are there and ports are available so from their side the installation can be done. Both also hinted that if I were to "give them something" they would come and install my line immediately.

Now I've called 10219, 0800456786, 0800600126 and in all honestly the people that work in the call centre's are completely useless. Requests to speak to a supervisor or manager are also bluntly refused. The standard response is just "request will be escalated and someone will call you".

I am honestly at my wits end with these people. If I could use another service I would but unfortunately I'm situated at the bottom of a hill so none of the wireless services can provide coverage.

Does anyone here have a number or e-mail address where I can contact someone who actually knows something? The conflicting stories from call centre personel are really just getting too much...
 
Jus give the guys the little "something" they want and get your line..it even works with metro police :) The telkom techies are usually very friendly..50 bucks and you'll have dsl in no time
 
I was faced with exactly the same problem. Finally told them to go to hell, cancelled everything (was still paying for phone, adsl, etc at my old house where I no longer lived!) and got MyWireless. It is unfortunate that you can't do the same.
I must have phoned every single person in Telkom. There is no solution

offtopic : A month or two later, I saw that Telkom had tried to charge me a penalty fee for cancelling the adsl contract. Turns out targeted rudeness gets their attention (They sorted it pretty damn quickly after that)
Some of my favourite lines that seem to work very well :

1) "Are you unable to understand, or are you just unwilling?"
2) "I am not unable to fax it through to you, I am just unwilling. Just like your installation department" - Worked like a charm. Turns out their unbendable rules aren't that unbendable
3) "Is your mother proud of you?" - This really seemed to annoy him. Just like being put on hold for half an hour annoyed me
4) "I can understand perfectly what you are saying. You, however, dont seem to be able to understand" - Thats what got them to cancel the penalty fee
5) And it always help to throw in some legalese. "You are in breach of contract" and "Unjustified enrichment" always seem to scare and confuse them
 
I'm thinking cancelling the order may be the best option. I just spoke to customer care at Telkom and told them that the technicians would do the installation for a bribe. Their response was that I should then follow that option but Telkom will not be held responsible for financial losses or loss of service when the port is reallocated to the original customer.
