Hello ladies and gentleman. Someone care to point out which section is best for a decent rant and rave about a problem on going for about three weeks now? :wtf::sick:

Hmmmm.. Don't get me wrong, we're all on your side and know your pain, but to be honest... everyone here has a rant about Telkom and nothing will ever get done about it. Ranting about Telkom is like farting in a thunderstorm.

I get your point and am I am well aware of that as this is not my first time having issues with them but this occasion (and it is STILL not resolved) takes the cherry on the cake!

My line has been cut on the 2.6.2010 received an sms after reporting it that is has been sent to the Repair division. a week later a new Ref No again the msg
been sent to the Repair Division. Still waiting no Phone no ADSL and heard rumours of a Strike, but nothing in any news on a strike ? So what now.
Got a Vodacom pay a you go data bundle. But 19 cents 1 MB . it is only a thick cut cable. Phoning Telkom from a cell ic costing a fortune

Check this right, I ordered my line about three months back, took Telkom just over a week to come and install the phone line. Same day I ordered the ADSL on the line, 3 days later, I phoned and the lady tunes me the line is activated, I can start using it. So I get my ISP, and walla, it works 100% for close to 3 months.

About a month ago we started doing some building in the house so I had to move the PC else where and unplugged everything but the building that took place was not even in the same room as to where the ADSL line is installed. So after the building was done, I hook everything up again and then the crap starts.

The line will sync with the exchange and as soon as you start request data, the line will just drop. Sometimes it would come back just after, other times it will take up to 2 hours before it syncs again, very erratic to pin point the problem. So the first thing I did was phone up my ISP who by the way goes through IS. They assured me no problems, none the less, I then tested a SAIX account but the problem was still there.

I then got on the phone with the ADSL support department, logged a call and they explained to me there is packet loss on the line as well as PVS error, what ever that is. Two days later, techy rocks up at my house, test the line, listens for noise, gets nothing and reports back, there is no problem. So the same day I phoned Telkom back to explain that the problem is not resolved.

I get yet another reff number and another techy comes out the next day, I explain to him what the problem is, he does a few tests and says, no this has to go to the exchange guys cause it is not a residential problem. Next morning I phone Telkom again to follow up on the call only to find out that reff number does not exist and they need to log a new call, so they did that again, send another techy, same story over.

Explained to him the issues, he said he will escalate to exchange guys and later that day, I phoned again to find out the status and this time the lady said, the call has been closed by the techy, no problem found. So I log another call, this time the attention goes to the exchange manager in my area. They sent someone out again, also tested the lines, found no issues, closes the call, phone back again log another call and they then sent a senior ADSL techy out, manager also comes with and the techy that closed the call comes out.

They run a few other tests, changed the line outside and said they did it at the exchange also, changed the port. Half an hour after they left, the line does the same thing, so next morning (now 2 weeks already into this) I phone this manager cause I now had his number. Told him the problem is still there, he says ok, they will change the port again. Next morning, the problem still comes up, phone him, he says they did change the ports, I must test it with another router, so I explain to them, my friends don't have these kinda things just laying around and I am not convinced it's the router and I won't dig out money only to find out the problem is still there.

So they send a guy here that drops off a brand new router still sealed. I plug it in and till the next morning the problem didn't come up. Techy comes and picks up the router and asks me, and, what is the result? So I said, well it seems my router is the issues. He leaves, plug my router back in and for three weeks, my line doesn't go down ONCE, not ONCE!!

Then, all of the sudden it starts again so I phone the manager again and explain to him what has happened since, he says, ok he'll send the router again so I can test it for a week or so. The techy gets here, ask him to stay, we set up the router, line doesn't sync, restart, reconfigure, still the same thing. Plug my router in, line syncs.

Now, they say I must wait till 21st June just in case the line upgrades gets done to see if my issues gets sorted cause they don't know what it is anymore. In the meantime I have to sit with a line that drops so much, it's hardly worth having ADSL at home.

Yes , but at least you have seen a few Technician. I only got a cut cable two Ref numbers two calls
