Where to watch Rio Olympics ?

Hi Bwana . Would you mind PM me to explain how to go about trying to watch dome olympics . I have just canned DSTV and would like to see the remainder of the games . I am not too clued up on Getflix Roku etc. ? Would appreciate your help
 
SABC 2 and 3 coverage is "okay" for most sports. The quality is a problem however, varies tremendously from one Brazil venue to the next and the technical handling of the content at the SABC is also full of "mistakes" -- wrong aspect ratios etc...

But then of course, one also has to admit to receiving broadcast signals ----- :whistle:

14 day free trial of Getflix is working 100%. And I can't imagine Unotelly being any easier to use either. Change DNS and done.

Quality is beautiful, and works fine on a 4Mb line.

BBC has up to 24 live streams, so any sport you want to watch, you can - and you can re-watch previous events of the day when you want.

With SABC you're limited to what they want to show, when they want to show it.

It's no huge secret. Sign up for Getflix and follow their setup instructions. It usually just involves changing the DNS server addresses in your router.

Then if you have a roku you'll need to set up a UK account for it and then download BBC Sports app onto it. If you're watching via a browser you can skip that part. :)

Getflix and Unotelly work pretty much the same, except with getflix you can still access US/UK you-know-what…

Agree, for those with good connectivity and capacity available.

BUT ... for those without either of the above, SABC coverage is "good enough" .

Thanks Bwana . I am not sure how to go about doing that (changing address on router ) I have tried to follow the instructions but I am scared that once done , all the other browsing may be effected ?

Don't worry. Only the streaming sites will be affected. Everything else will be passed off.
 
Tried that , cant get it right . I have now tried Kodi as well . I can get it installed by following the you tube clips but it doesnt seem to work . Probably because we are in SA ??
 
%@%#. Now it doesn't work any more. I use DHCP on my network for various reasons, but this was their support reply:

On this screenshot, IP address should be set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". On DNS server fields, make sure you sue 2 DNS IPs like
United States (Central) 169.55.51.86
United States (West) 54.187.61.200

Then please login to your Getflix account and check if your IP address shows as registered. If not please click UPDATE IP button to register your IP address to our network or press "Force Update IP"

Also please check the DNS Configuration status if it's showing as properly setup. Then recheck BBC.

Why would I need a non-static local IP for this to work? Is there a real reason for this? Seems the dude is just grasping at straws...

@bwana are you still able to view BBC Sport streams with GetFlix DNS?

I hope this is not the end of my BBC Olympics viewing... :cry:

I turn my TV on and browse through all my DSTV Sport channels and start watching....so simple, so convenient. Recording weightlifting while I watch the archery.

Don't know what the fuss is all about?

Don't know much about Kodi but Getflix is pretty easy to setup. You just need to enter two of their DNS addresses in your router, click on a link at Getflix's website to register your current IP address on their system and you're good to go. Things get a little more complicated if you also want Netflix but it's still fairly simple.

There seems to be some confusion - not sure on whose side. Using a DHCP on your LAN is fine. Just remember, every time you restart your router there's a good chance you're going to end up with a newly assigned IP address so you need to register it with them.
