One of our sales guys' VC modem 'stopped working"..... he drove over it with his bakkie :p
Was at all the Vodacom suppliers in my area this weekend, Vodashop, Incredible Connection, Dions Wired, HiFi Corp, PnP, Clicks, etc, at different shopping centres, looking for a USB modem on prepaid to replace him.
Nobody's got stock, and nobody knows when or IF they will be getting again. Chick at HiFi corp says Voda recalled all the modems they had left coz "there was fault with them"

I see the Vodacom specials booklet shows the K365 modem with 100Mb data for 12Months for R399 once off. So maybe the sales on USB modems were just particularly good? Howcome then does VC not urgently re-stock their retail suppliers, nobody's got.

Or are Vodacom clearing out all their old modems, in order to bring in all new models?

So will have to get one of the unbranded HSPA modems at PC Worx or another PC store, which I guess is not all bad, hate the VMC software.... was just wondering if VC is planning a surprise?

Have you tried Musica?

jip, 2 Musicas tried.... same story, "all out of stock" + "don't know when getting again"....
Hold on to your VC modem, ... its a collectors item :-) !

yes the modem that have the problem is th k4505h. they can order the k4505z. but i prefer the k3765

The point of this thread escapes me!

Why do you need a "Vodacom" modem? I'm pretty sure no such thing exists in the first place, and secondly, since modems are not network-locked you can buy ANY modem and use the Vodacom simcard that was probably not damaged, and if it was, do a sim swap. And in any case, since it's prepaid - go to Cell C and get a faster and cheaper service.

:-)
was just looking for a 'voda' modem, since VC has the best (if u can call it that) signal in his area, and coz these 'old' ones now go for cheap(ish), about R400 for a K365 at HiFi Corp etc.
Doesnt HAVE to be voda branded, in fact, a telkom or mtn or just plain blank-unbranded modem will be better, since it doesn't have the annoying habit to want to install VMC everytime u plug it in.
No use in paying R1499 either for a Cell C modem and get 2Gb of data per month.... this dude is way way up in the North of the country, where even crappy EDGE on VC is considered good signal, no wiff of woosh... and his usage is only about 200megs per month.
Got a cheapie unbranded HSPA modem from PC Worx, and new prepaid sim from PnP cos the sim he had was also faakt.

Was merely wondering about this sudden complete dissapearance of Vodacom/Vodafone USB modems :-)

All the VodaCON branded modems will again be availble after 1 April 2011 after the unveiling of the new VodaCON branding and colours - Red and look exactly like Vodaphone.
