West Rand Rangeview Telkom cables stolen conveniently a day after fibre cables were laid from Noordheuwel to Rangeview !
No fibre into the 400 house Panorama Estate though.....just to the wall.
Now the message from Telkom is not hopeful.
I have/had Telkom landline with ADSL and contract with Mweb for data.
What now ?
Cannot run home business without data.
Small wifi modem hanging on window is costing more than SASSA pension

Yep, Telkom won't replace the copper cables and instead of installing fibre they will offer you some wireless service.

Do I need them at all ? Never use my landline really, only for the ADSL part.

Depends what options are available in your area, best/cheapest option would be LTE.

Telkom has some LTE options
And you can also get Cell C Fixed LTE from Mweb.

Rain has 11pm to 6pm uncapped options.

Mweb offer LTE 50Gb /month at R349 and router at R1549 ?

Paying Telkom 400 and Mweb 200 currently , so cancel Telkom completely and save 150 month?

Never really use my landline anyway?

Do I sign up, they phoning me at 9.

How to cancel Telkom, seems a nightmare according to posts here ??

The dastardly deed is done. Cancelled with Telkom online and received confirmation number.
Ordered Mweb LTE 50Gb deal, got confirmation.
Now the waiting begins.

Currently paying R149 for 1 GB for my WiFi modem which goes in a day? Any other options to tide me over till things come right? A Huawei E5330 with MTN sim card.
