Where's my free Vista!

I bought XP Home at the end of last year and the shop assistant told me that I can claim my free copy of Vista Home Basic when it is released. I went back and now he tells me I must go to MS's website. I can't find anything for South Africa, only USA and Canada.

Can anybody give advise?

with XP home you only get 50% discount on either Home Basic or Home Premium (you choose).

whoever sold you XP should have also given you a redemption form with some serial number on it, on the form is the address of the site where you can order your copy of vista.

I have an Upgrade Redemption Form for Windows Vista Business.
I have to fill in the 'Order Confirmation Number' (Which I get after a credit card payment) and my personal details and send the for to the Netherlands.
You know, I think I'll just wait another 6 months or so. Maybe they'll bring out a SP2 or something...

just make sure that form isn't just valid for a limited period... :rolleyes:

and btw, SP1 will come out when Server 2007 is released (round about july AFAIK), and among other things, they're gonna update the kernel (kinda a first) to 6.1, the same as Server 2007.

PS. they usually bring out SP1 before SP2 :p

I just checked, the form is still valid. They don't give you the pricing on the upgrade though.

upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Business is free, you just need to pay for shipping ;)

On the forms that i've seen they say they're only valid till 31 March, so dont wait too long... :rolleyes:
