Whetstones

Don't bother with that fancy BS.

Just get one of these and be done with it.

Also used one of these in the past with no issues...

I have also used the one below but threw it out as I somehow managed to slice my hand open while using it...

Yeah those are super dodgy. I'm very careful around knives since my dad's gf nearly cut her thumb right off with a brand new Victorinox knife...

I've got one of these cheapo's and it works great. Takes a few seconds, so you don't feel like it's a mission to sharpen your knife and as a result you use it far more often.

With those stones and fancy expensive contraptions you're less likely to actually use them because it's such a damn mission and as a result your blades end up staying dull for much longer.

And the joke is that most those expensive sharpening tools don't even do a better job than the simplest cheapest ones.

Cringe AF.

I have a Lansky set and a warthog. The warthog works damn good as a bare minimum.

Undoubtedly, your way is less hassle, but sharpening on a stone can be therapeutic. You lay out all the stuff, you oil up the stones, and then you go. Book off a Sunday morning and sharpen them all.
