Hi,

I am looking to get a secondhand diesel automatic SUV. I don't want to pay more than R270 00 max and currently my choice is between the Huyndai IX 35, Kia Sportage, Honda CRV & Nissan Qashqai.

From what I can read the Kia is the most fuel economic and that Hyundai might be a "hard" ride.

I can't find a similar diesel auto discussion here on the forum so if anyone drives anyone of these or similar vehicles, please let me know your opinions!

You should be able to pick up the new shape qashqai 1.5 diesel in a few months for around 270k. I see some 2014 models are already down to below 300k.

Try to get an x3 or Audi q5 instead, they are leagues ahead of the ones you've mentioned and you could pick one up in your budget.

Great, I hadn't even considered the X3 or Q5 but will now! I don't like the looks of the Fortuner, nor the handling, it feels too much like driving a bakkie to me. I know it is a favourite but that's just my personal opinion.

In my limited experience the CRV is excellent value for money and very economical.

Q5 would be my first choice as well if you really can get one in the same price range. Looks and finishes in a different league.

Either of these two Honda CRV or Nissan Qashqai.
