Hi guys.

Which ADSL modem would you recommend and how much does it cost more or less?

I have a Linksys Wireless Broadband Router that I'm going to use with my ADSL modem. So I want a ADSL modem without built-in wifi.

Thanks in advance.;) :D

I personally dont think you can get better then the Linksys, you should be able to get one that is just an ADSL router / Modem with no wireless etc.

I use the Billion 5102SM, which is a ADSL2+ modem. It's plain, with only a ethernet port.

You could get the Billion 5200S and also go to www.billionsa.com and go and read about it and also find resellers on the website. I think that unit will be sufficient for the purpose that you want to use it for and its also cheaper than the others that ive found....

Seems we've all get our personal favourites :)

While we're on the subject I've found my SMC to be more than up to the task.

Perhaps it might also be helpful to list ones not to buy.

I've ordered ADSL, and I intend to get the Billion 5200S. I have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router running my network, so all I need the ADSL modem to do is replace my Iburst modem. Shouldn't cost more than about R450.

Yip, my setup is the same. I think I will have a look at the Billion 5200S.

Thanks

Which Linksys router do you have?
If you have a WRT54g/gl router, then I would go for a Linksys ADSL2MUE modem. The modem stacks on top of the router nicely, is also ADSL2+ compatible, and also runs on Linux. Has both a USB and Ethernet port.

It's what I have, and I am extremely happy with the setup!

I've got the WRT54G Wireless Router. Does the G and GL routers look the same?

Sorry, what did you pay for the ADSL2MUE?

I Can recommend the Netgears. Awesome modems / routers.
Easy to setup, easy to use.
Used the DG834, with WiFi at 54Mbps, bought the 108Mbps version earlier this year. DG834GT IIRC.
See they are now on 208Mbps ... hhmmmm
