Hi!

I need to get from Johannesburg to PE just before Christmas to join family for the festive season. As you can imagine, it's really expensive to fly that time. I'm now considering taking the bus, but it has been a few years since I last took the bus.

Which bus service to you find the best in terms of comfort ans overall service? Greyhound, Intercape or Translux? Are there any other I should consider?

Thanks!

I've taken many a long haul bus trip in my life and don't wish that on anyone.

That said, I found Greyhound to be the best and they give you a cup of coffee and the TV's all work.

Have you considered taking the train instead? I had a delightful train trip JHB to PE once. It's a long trip, but novel and something different (for me anyway).

I have actually not considered the train! Will investigate. Thanks for your comments on Greyhound.

Im with hambone on the train trip.
I once went from PE to Pretoria by bus, was not the best experience for me.
First thing i did was book plane tickets back home & swore from then on i would either drive myself, take the plane or the train.

Have you had a look at mango, just added PE as part of there routes. Maybe cheaper..

Train trips are cool if you are not in a rush.

This time of year, I will avoid busses. They are all in a rush and the roads is bad. Really sad state of things.

Thanks for all the replies - In the end I bought a Kulula ticket for R300 more than a bus ticket would have cost. Glad I don't have a bus-trip to look forward to :)
