Which Business uncapped account to get

Need advise on what business unshaped uncapped account to get.

Currently looking at the axxess and afrihost 10mb options. Others I need to consider?

Line will be used mostly for gaming and some downloading/general internet use so latency is important

Option 1: Web Africa Business
Option 2: Axxess Business
Option 3: VOX capped account
Option 4: AH Business
 
^ Why so people need to express their usage to justify others joining your ISP? You could be downloading off of HTTP during 00-06 while OP runs Torrents or streams during peak. Different people use it differently.

OP should check out Web Africa, Afrihost, Axxess and Openweb. In that order. You should also consider a capped account if you're usage isn't as high as Mr WhatWhat here.
 
Thanx all. Went with web africa. Have no interest in going capped ever again, do not want to monitor usage.
 
I am about to have my 10mb Axxess Business line activated at home. I have normally used a capped Afrihost residential account. Will I notice a real traffic capacity difference or not ? (I thought to ask on this existing business account thread, as you chaps would know better than most)...... :D
 
OK.... let me re-word my question: will a Business ADSL Account allow for better streaming on multiple devices at the same time ? (as an example), or would it just be like a capped account, which allows for one device to stream but then effects other devices when they are trying to stream as well, etc.

One person streaming shouldn't affect the others on capped.

If you are using Hulu maybe check the quality settings. It's probably set to HD which maxes your line.

Thank you for the reply. It is when I am using P2P software or when I am watching Netflix. It does, as you say, appears to max the line. Not something I encountered when using ADSL in the UK and Europe. It just appears that if you have one device busy, then all the other devices appear to suffer.

I understand all the concepts around unmetered, unshaped and prioritised bandwidth, but I am trying to solve the above problem.

I have managed to resolve this in the past by setting up my router for multiple accounts (bridged), by setting the primary to my capped Afrihost account and the PC that I am using for the P2P downloads to my Telkom 4mb uncapped account. This allows for normal device usage, whilst the pc max's out on the P2P.

But in honesty, this is a hassle. I thought a business uncapped line might by-pass this issue.

So, in a nutshell, a business line would not solve this issue and I should save my money ?

Thoughts ?

The problem you seen to have is you only have a 4meg line.

So if your torrents are downloading at 3Megs you only have 1Meg left for everything else.

Upgrading to 10Meg will make a bigger difference for you I think.
 
Unfortunately, it is a 10mb Telkom line, but I only have a 4mb Telkom data package. My uncapped Afrihost cruises at 8.5mb local and 7.5mb to international servers.

So, what do you think .... would a Business line be worth it for my specific issues or not ?
 
Mmmm, I am guessing that you do not think that it will make a difference...... I am also starting to be concerned in this regard....... I could always simply try it for a month and see....... :confused:
 
Well, I am extremely impressed with Axxess as a company. I am currently on their 10mb Business package which is producing great speeds both local and international. I am also using their fixed IP via L2TP and I am also making use of their dyndns solution for my IP security cameras (as not easily configured via the fixed IP VPN - simpler to use their dyndns). So, all in all, no issues. When streaming, I have also not had any issues with using multiple devices either, which is also a good sign. I am happy to say that they have converted me and I will remain a client for years to come. I will keep my 4mb Telkom as backup. :cool:
