I've been driving a 2017 Chevy Spark for the last couple of years but I recently changed jobs and my commute now involves quite a bit of highway driving. The Spark is a great city runaround, but it blows for driving on the highway. It feels very unstable at anything above 90km/h and my commute is becoming less and less tolerable. My commute is 140km round trip with low to mild traffic, because I drive in the opposite direction of the usual Pretoria -> Joburg commute.
I'm thinking of trading the Spark in for a different car, but I'm not sure what I should be looking at. We want to move to Europe end of next year, so whatever I get wil probably have to be sold again in about 2 years, so resale value is a factor here. Budget is around R150 000 - R180 000. Can put down a deposit of about R50 000, the rest will be financed.
Is it generally a bad idea to buy something like a 2014 Volvo V40 with about 100 00km on the clock? Which cars would you be looking at if you were in my situation?
