Fine if it comes with a car I get, not looking for any of it though.
 
Other: I only have cruise control from that list and almost never use it :ROFL:

one I use often, not that you can disable it anyway, is hill start assist

I’m sure the Chinese cars have most or even all on the larger models.

The Chery Tigo 4 was R410k new in 2024 and has everything barring the Traffic Jam Assist & Park Assist. And I got the Chery at R350k that was 8 months old/11,000km.

Weird they left out park assist though, as my 10 year old Volvo had that.

Sure you can though - nothing is stopping you causing more stress than you need to
 
Reverse camera and automatic speed limiter in my car, add high beam assist to that list for features in general.

Yup, don't start the engine and leave it, start and go :-) it warms up quicker and more efficiently when you go after starting. As other fluids get to warm up as well.
 
By and large the whole start and go thing came with regulation when going unleaded, because a cold catalytic converter does pretty much more damage to the environment than leaded fuel ever did.

So they all had to get on that bandwagon and say don’t idle your car.

Regardless most modern vehicles have scaling rev limiters for protection when cold and if you start and set off immediately so long as you aren’t flat lining it nothing detrimental is going to happen anyway.

I think that's why they say best practise

In other words, nothing is stopping you driving away immediatly - but best practise seems to rather wait a few seconds. I've always been told that and I haven't a single link saying that you must drive away immediatly either.

Rather, I've found found countless links saying around 30 seconds is enough - and if I can start while doing what I need, why wouldn't I go that route.

Yeah look we're not saying drive away immediately, but some people were advocating 5 to 15 minutes idling, it's like wtaf.
If you're starting your car and strapping in the kids, or you've started the car adjusted your makeup or picked your nose or whatever, that's ample time

Oh then I'm with you - yea I'm talking the 30-60 seconds time - not minutes .

There's been one occasion where I started and the kids threw a melt down & I battled to get going - the car switches off at 10 minutes. But most the time I'm actually walking to it or right next to it.

I've had a reverse camera for a month and a half now, it's annoying
 
Adaptive cruise control makes long trips a lot nicer, but recently drove my old Toyota from JHB to Durban and that has no added features other than electric windows and didn't really mind it, so for the price we pay for these features I'd say none are really worth it, wouldn't really call electric windows a driver assist feature.

I bought my new car with my wife and it seems to have come with this really annoying feature that screams in fear when a car in front brakes 100m down the road.. wish there was an off button for that.

PDC is much better than the camera in my car hardly use the camera except for seeing how far back I can go after the beep goes constant.
