I'm up for my upgrade soon, and looking to finally get an android phone.

Due to budget restrictions I will not be able to get something top of the range like the S2, Sensation, or RZR.

What looks like they'll probably be in my range are the Desire S, SGS+ (update of SGS?) and the SE Neo.

Which one of these would you good folks recommend? personal experiences as to user experience appreciated. I've read all the reviews but I don't 100% trust them as I firmly believe you need to use a phone for at least a month or 2 before you really get a feel for it.

THanks in advance

I recently got the Motorola Defy from MTN for R89/month. Excellent value for money (R2136 in total, including R100;25sms;10MB/month). The Desire S has slightly better specs though.

Oh, and the is Defy is dustproof and water-resistant, in case you're an outdoor kinda guy.

+1 to Defy

Harder to break or if u fall into a pool at a party...mind u its not indestructible though so dont deliberately break it

what contract are you on? / what are you looking to spend monthly?

I can only recommend the Neo, it's a really good phone. No complaints and I've had it since September. I personally think the GSM Arena reviews are mostly spot on other than I don't agree with most of the negatives they mention.

I'm currently on a topup 315 with VC, though looking at CellC to switch to something similar with them maybe a little less on the free minutes/ airtime and get a data package to go with it. I'm not looking to spend more than what I currently am now though. the only thing holding me back is I don't get CellC's 900Mhz 3g in Grahamstown where I study

The Galaxy S+ is looking pretty good to me right now, my mom has the first Galaxy S and I really enjoyed using it so the S+ which is slightly faster can only be better right? and looking at comparisons it looks to be slightly better than both the Neo and Desire S
