Want to buy a new Fiesta but I just can't decide which to get between the 1.6tdci, the new 1.0 ecoboost and the ST. I'll most likely drive this thing into the ground so the longer it lasts the better.

The 1.6tdci would probably have the best fuel economy among those, but I'm wondering what the difference in power is between that and the 1.0 and if the 1.0 will outlast the 1.6 through the years?

Obviously the ST outperforms them along with the generous increase in cost and fuel consumption, but I have heard that when looking at a Fiesta the ST is the only option, is it really that much better?

Also, the Yaris is apparently much more reliable. Would it's reliability outweigh all the pro's of the Fiesta?

I've got the 1.0 ecoboost titanium and I am very happy.

Also looked at the tdci but with the shorter service intervals and only in trend spec i opted for the titanium. the St was abit too pricey and 3 doors are a no no.

If you have any questions about the car let me know.

I heard the 1.0 only has a 250 000km lifespan. 1.6tdci will cost more to maintain in the longrun. So ST it is.

Where did you hear this? And even if it is true...does anyone keep a car for that long thesedays?

I drive the ST. The fuel consumption is excellent. I sit at an avg of 7.0L/100 km mixed cycle (traffic/highway).

ST is awesome.
I get 9.1l/100km though. :(. Town driving only though. And I have a lead foot. Highway driving it drops significantly

Bought my wife the 1.0 ecoboost titanium, I am so impressed with it. I have a few niggles about it but on the whole it is a superb car and would recommend it to everyone.

As a side note, I drove every car I could get my hands on before making my decision from the clio, polo, i20 to the opel to name a few and the ST was one of them, all I will say is its a really awesome car for a youngster and if I was 20 again I would give a kidney for one but that's where it stops. its three doors, the bucket seats are way to cramped for me and the little space in the back would be a problem for me unless you don't mind only having two in the car as the rear seated passengers are gonna struggle. It goes like hell though haha

He put 250 000 as the benchmark. That's kind of worrying.

In what way is it worrying? If you do an average of 20000km a year that's 12 and
A half years...and that's only the minimum according to your quoted article.

I still don't understand the problem

I think you should wait for the next gen fiesta or buy a focus next year.Ford is changing the layout of the cabin/dash in next years focus and this will make it to the new fiesta.2012-ford-focus-interior-photo-341350-s-1280x782.jpg

Don't buy a Ford. From personal experience....

Their service is horrible at multiple dealers in CT, KZN and JHB. We eventually had to sell the wife's Fiesta 1.6 A/T Ambiente that she bought brand new after taking back to multiple dealerships over times in the space of 14 months and not having the exact same issue solved.

Rather spend your money on something else that will give you better value but more importantly, peace of mind service.
You can get better than a Ford for your money...

My 2c...

I will also support this as I also bought a Figo brand new and in the 1st 2 years I had a problem put it in first gear but was told that I wasn't putting it in gear properly now it just won't stay in first gear and I'm told I need a new gearbox when I reported the problem when the car was still under warranty.

So I would rather spend my money on an opel for my next car.

I have the ST and drive it like i stole it ,it puts a smile on my dial every time i drive it .
There are a few things you have to get used to if you buy one of these ,the suspension is bloody hard and you feel every bump ,consumption i get is 10.7 but that is because of the way i drive it .
Over all a great car with no problems so far ,i have had the car 16 months now and it goes like hell .
When i bought the car i paid 245 now i see the price is like 270 :wtf:
