im looking for a decent graphics card that can run gta4, skyrim and other new titles on max settings
i found a few second hands card on gumtree, olx and junkmail.

my specs are:

i3 2120 3.3ghz cpu
kingston 4gb 1333mhz ram
gigabyte 450w psu(i'll upgrade it when i need to)
samsung 17inch lcd 1440x900 (i'll be upgrading to a 20inch led soon)

asus hd 5850 1gb gddr5 dx11 - R1100

asus gtx 550 ti R1300
sapphire 7770 1gb 128bit - R1500

gts 450 2gb - R900
gigabyte 5770 1gb 128bit - R850

gigabyte gts 250 - R600

these are all second hand cards, my max budget is about R1000, i'll save up for the other cards.

5770 will only run games on medium settings;

The screen size doesn't matter in terms of performance requirements. It is the screen resolution that makes all the difference.

R850 for the HD5770 is quite expensive! I sold mine for R450. The HD5770 couldn't play BF3 on Full HD really, which I then upgraded to an HD6950 which is working very well.

For your current resolution an HD5770 should work I suppose, but it would struggle when you upgrade to a higher resolution!

I have a 5770 and yes, it runs new games on medium. You want the 7770.

No it is not future proof at all. You should save up for the 7770 at least if you want it to last even a short time and be able to handle the bigger resolution on your new monitor.

the 5850 it is.

iv been wondering about my ram, my board and cpu only supports 1333mhz ram right?
i just got an offer for a brand new biostar z77 crossfire board for R1000 that supports 2600(OC)/2400(OC)/2133(OC)/1866(OC)/1600
but how does it work? is the 1600+ only for the ivy bridge or is there a way to use the board's memory controller?
i know this is off the topic

thanks
