I'm looking to buy a handset (besides the Nexus) that has the least bloatware running in the background.

I'm considering the Sony Xperia Z2.

Advice please.........

Whichever one has the custom rom installed.

Motorola devices are basically stock android there's moto x or the moto x2 should be dropping soon

It doesn't matter. You have your mind set on the Z2. So go for it, root and remove whatever you don't want

+1 To custom rom, or root and titanium backup. Easiest is still the nexus

Amount of bloatware is a silly criteria for judging a phone imo. You can get rid of blaotware (disabling what you can via Android settings, rooting & Titanium Backup or custom roms for the rest). Buy the hardware that suits you; tailor the software to your needs.

That's what I was going to recommend. Samsung has tonnes of crap. MTN also has less branding crap installed than vodacom.

The Xperia Z2 has probably the most bloatware of any phone out there, or it's at least tied with the Samsung stuff. That said, it's still a brilliant device. Probably the best looking and best built phone out there other than the htc One M8.

The Xperia Z3 comes out next month or next week so rather wait.

The Z3 isn't even announced yet. And when it does launch it will probably take several months to get here just as the Z2 did.

There's a new Nexus phone coming out soon, and it will be awesome and entirely devoid of bloat. If you can get your hands on a OnePlus One invite, that's a very epic phone with zero bloatware too.

Asus seems pretty light on the bloatware. Samsung is NOT your friend on this matter.
