Seeing they are both about the same price, which would be a better experience.

512kbit - 3GB - Unshaped
4mbit - 3GB - Shaped

I do mainly surfing, browsing, some downloads and a fair bit of uploads.
In the last 6 years I've only hit my cap twice.

well since you're obviously not such a heavy user a 512 kbit line might do you just fine and the unshaped should be nice to have.

Without a doubt...
If it was for games or something else that requires low international latency and more responsiveness, then unshaped 512 - otherwise 4mbit all the way: you'll feel the difference way more for general browsing etc

Thanks guys.

What is the approx difference in international ping time between a shaped and unshaped connection ?
Currently with my 512k shaped, pinging www.google.com I get an average of 345 ms.

Hell I remember the days with ISDN and a 56k modem, I used to play UT anywhere in the UK or Europe with a ping of 120, something somewhere has gone seriously wrong :(

Do not dare tell the morons who now control our network latency that we used to have such low latency.
They vehemently deny that fact and swear on their lives that it is absolutely impossible.
Even Seacom, the oh so great company is in denial.

But, the latency on the shaped product depends greatly on the shaped product itself and the time of day. As in; some shaped products actually provide really good latency at night, while others are over-utilised all the time and rely heavily on cache servers to keep their "browsers" happy.

I get 290 -> 590ms latency to WoW Europe on WebAfrica's standard shaped product (Which becomes shaped after hours).
