So I'm looking for a general purpose mouse for gaming/work use. I like the Microsoft mice as they're pretty good value for money and can take a few knocks.

I have a few specifics though,

1.) I want a full size mouse. Notebook mice are too small for my hands.
2.) Also, it seems you cant find a Microsoft mouse with a decent scroll wheel anymore. I want one with the "ratchet" style mechanism, not this new "free-styling" nonsense.
3.) Wired/Wireless doesn't really matter to me.
4.) Bonus would be great if it could work on different surfaces ie. bluetrack etc.
5.) Nothing too fancy, those side buttons just tend to get in the way for me.
6.) I don't really want to spend too much.

Logitech G500 :) I rate one of the best

He said he doesn't want any side buttons... This is the complete opposite :p

I tend to squeeze the side buttons with my thumb which I find really irritating.

Left, Right and a decent Middle button on the wheel is fine for me.

I would not buy razer mice again. Went through two of the Blackadder series mice and both started having issues with the left click. It started to double click when you want to single click or while you are dragging it would just "drop" as if I stopped clicking...

Next mouse will be gigabyte m6900 gaming series mouse which costs about R200 not R600+ for a mouse that only lasts a year.

Corsair m65, brilliant mouse and comfortable. Cost me about R600. The build quality is superb.
Rather stick with the M60, because there are flaws with the M65.
I'm quite happy with my M60, but it's shape did feel weird (compared to my Logitech MX500) the first time I tried it!

Takealot currently has a special on the Logitech G105 keyboard + G400 mouse for R799 incl shipping: http://www.takealot.com/gaming/logi...d-logitech-gaming-mouse-g400-black-p,29945445
I don't think it is a mechanical keyboard, but at least it can do 6KRO
Unfortunately this isn't the best mouse, but it's definitely a bargain for someone looking for both a decent mouse and keyboard.

I've always preferred the shape of the Logitech MX500/510/518/ and G400/500 over the other brands and also over the Logitech G9/G9x shape.

What flaws? All the reviews I read and people I spoke to whom own the mouse says the M65 is an excellent mouse with no issues. M60 is still an excellent mouse. Reason I'm asking, is that I'm interested in getting the M65.

So when the mouse was just launched, it had major "lagg" issues with its laser sensor, but it appears to be fixed for a couple of months now with a simple firmware update.
Unfortunately there were quite a few people who had to RMA their mouse, and some even had the RMA'd one die on them too.

Read more about that mouse firmware fix and issues here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120261

So I suppose if you update your M65's firmware and don't have one with a faulty sensor, then it would be one awesome mouse :)

Stay away from the m65. On paper it's great. Did not even work a week. Sent it back to takealot and got the 90 as you cannot buy the 60 from them anymore. Still prefer the 60 to the 90 but yeah.
