What are you going to do with it? That will determine whether the latest model is worth the 17.5% or so premium.
 
MD103 is the new models the other one is old. So rather buy the new model if you going to fork out the cash
 
MD322 definitely. It has a faster processor, a bigger hard drive, double the amount of ram for graphics and it is R3000 cheaper. It might be a generation older but the bottom one was most likely at top of the range and the top, bottom of the range. Not that much has changed in terms of new generation technology in the MacBook Pros non retina editions.
NB: both are non retina as both do not have SSDs.

On what basis is it worth the additional cost? Being newer isn't relevant.
 
It really depends on what you are going to do with the laptop. If you just need it for normal internet usage and nothing fancy, I would recommend getting the cheaper one.
 
MD103 all the way, the extra R3k and you get a laptop that's way thinner and lighter, has a retina display, and is just much much faster with an SSD in it. The resale value is way better too.
 
Oh, I assumed for the price it was the Retina model.

Well I still recommend the Retina model, the cheaper one. If you can't afford that get the cheaper 15" regular model, it's better value IMO.

Go look at the Retina model in a shop, and check it out. Read some reviews, if you use your computer intensely it's definitely worth it IMO.

Which is entirely irrelevant unless it offers a performance advantage commensurate with the price difference. You also cannot predict that there'll be a better percentage resale value in the future.
 
No matter what machine you get - PLEASE PLEASE change the dreadful harddrive... thats where you will have the bottleneck. Get a SSD or at least a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB
 
In fact getting the cheaper machine and using the remainder of the money to put in a 256Gb SSD will give you much better performance than the more expensive machine.

This. It's all about the SSD, I wouldn't even consider a new machine without one, which is why I really like the retina model MBPS and the MacBook Air's.
