Which ISP?

I got burned with Openweb Gold (IS) (resetting accounts all the time). Also they have calendar month notice, Plugg (IS) do not. I have never used trial accounts, I just sign up and if I'm not happy I leave. I've been Plugged in for 7 months and counting since Afrihost (not regretting that either as they are turning into a you can't do this or you can't do that kind of an account)

I want to upgrade to 10mb. Currently on mweb 4mb uncapped (899) and not unhappy, but a bit slow for streaming (1channel etc).
My avg over 12 months have been around 200 gig per month, what isp would you recommend in the R1000 or so bracket?

Unfortunately I am stuck on 4mb (G.dmt) and no option of 10mb and if by some miracle telkom pulls their finger out, Plugg (IS) 10mb is too expensive but would assume it's as awesome as their 4mb accounts. Like I said earlier, I've lost all faith in Openweb (IS), maybe give Webafrica (IS) a go. I wouldn't touch Afrihost and Axxess (MTN) with a 10 foot barge pole.

You do know not all IS accounts are the same right? They are just a backbone provider. The ISPs create their own shaping profiles. It's how Openweb can have standard, Silver and Gold for example.

I know, Plugg are getting theirs right tho as I am getting it straight from IS consumer division, no middle man, I only suggested Webafrica because of price, but judging on how quiet Webafrica's thread is, maybe they also doing it right (Plugg too expensive for 10mb, which isn't effecting me as I don't have the option) and coz I've lost faith in Openweb (too many new logins (over 5 times) on Gold for my liking)).

Also, gold would push him over the R1000 mark wouldn't it?

But if I had a 10mb option available, I would probably bite the bullet and go for it anyway, that's how good they've been to me.

Just spoke to the Plugg people :P Wow they are very open and nice about everything. I am moving my business to them!

OP:
Your speed issue is very vague. Post your downstream SNR and attenuation, together with local and international pings.

If you have a physical line problem or have DSLAM congestion, no amount of ISP hopping will cure it. If the above question is too technical, get a trial account or a prepaid ADSL account from another ISP and test whether speeds are better.

I use Nexus isp month 2 month with my line rental through telkom.... very happy :)

uncapped 1Mb but it runs @ 2Mb speed most of the time and registers on my router as 2Mb
