Time again to investigate a new isp as webafrica business uncapped simply hasn't been up to the mark.

Needs are as follows:

1.Need a min of 200gb of any time unshaped data
2.Excellent gaming performance at all times. Do not want the issues I had with web africa of poor swtor performance during business hours. Yes it was fixed but it took way too long, at least a week, fixes need to happen within 2 hours.
3. 100% Solid international connectivity. I do not want to lose connectivity to international when I am in the middle of a raid...Do not care of this is only for a few mins.
4.Downloads need to run at full speed at all times. For game updates, game downloads, ect Do not care for torrents as I don't use them
5.Stream quality needs to be 100%. These included twitch

Have recently tried both crystal web and web africa. Crystal web was far better except for their download issues when it came to patching games.

1) All ISP's gives you this option.
2) I have a Web Africa - Business Capped account, and my ping is NEVER above 9ms - All day .... Every Day
3) Not once have i had issues with disconnects (except when i bumped my line speed higher than recommended)
4) I can stream twitch perfectly, i can also steam broadcast without a hitch

I asked a similar question not so long ago, and i think we are asking the wrong thing, we should be asking ourselves how much we are willing to spend. Most of the ISP's offer all the above, but it all comes at a premium price. Don't expect all of that with ANY home uncapped account.

After trying many free trials, i decided on Web Africa Business Capped .... here are my reasons:
1) It gave me the best performance during office hours (I work from home so i need this).
2) ALL protocols runs full speed any time of the day, this includes torrents. I know they say it is best effort for that, but i have ALWAYS received full speeds
3) For me it is the best value for money at the moment.
4) Their service is not what it used to be though... but it is still better than most.
5) They give a nice breakdown of priorities, and Business Capped was amongst the best: Comparison
I hope this helps

2.Presume that is local. No way you would get 9ms to a european server. Not interested in local gaming, need solid internartional.
3.Disconnects what I am talking is international failing...Happens atleast every three days, only for a few mins but those few mins can cause you to wipe. Not acceptable for me having to explain to my team mates we wiped because my isp can't keep international going.
4. The priority on the business capped claims streaming and gaming receives the same priority but more then once I have this not to be the case with quite a few games. Getting shaped to abysmal pings of 2000+ while streaming is fine.

Is why I suggested business or capped, no shaping. Rest of your demands entirely ridiculous btw.

How is it ridiculous. Just asking for totally rock solid international gaming performance. None of our ISP's competent enough to deliver this?

Nope.

PS: not the ISP's fault, there are a thousand things that could affect all that and first on the list is Telkom. You want rock solid international gaming performance move to international. You're halfway around the world, get used to it.

So an uptime of 99.98% on a best effort service isn't good enough? Suggest you move to an alternative universe, you'd be lucky to get that anywhere in Europe.

If you request help, expect answers, do not take us apart for voicing our opinions. You seemed to have come here asking a question to which you expect no-one will be able to answer, and all help is inferior.

It took me quite a few minutes trying to help you here. Don't waste our time please.

I appreciate the answers and feedback. I just gave my feedback on how I experienced them. If I came across badly then I apologize.

Depends how you define uptime. I define uptime as 100% line speed 24x7 days a week x 365 days a year. So no in terms of how I view it it is no where close to 99.98%.

Nope.

I see we are now at the normal blame telkom not the isp. The typical buck passing of our isps....

Oh well seems there is no good isp around that can provide what I require. So will just need to keep looking.

stefan, I'm sure getting a dedicated, 1:1 fibre line at any speed you require would suite your needs? Have you tried contacting anyone to get quotes for this?

... and where pray tell us does this wondrous service exist on our planet

Will look into it thx

No where but the aim should be to get as close to that as possible and when some thing goes wrong fix it immediately. Our isps are slow at reacting and prefer to pass the buck around by blaming Telkom and everything else except their network and not fixing things quickly.

You asked a question, too which you knew the answer... and then when we point it out, you say we pass buck.

Done with this thread.

Try not to mislead unintentionally. Products that are sold as unthrottled or unshaped are almost certainly managed. Customers are placed in a pool of users to ensure they don't go wild. The symptoms (if stictly managed) can resemble shaping.

I suggest rather going for a capped product, which is far less likely to be trouble. Telkom is an exception to this - the whole lot is shaped.
