Which ISPs are not dependent on SEACOM?

As far as I can see, Telkom is the only ISP that should be unaffected by Seacom outages... is that right?

I need to have two ISPs, so that on the (presumably often) occurrences where Seacom goes down, I can switch to another ISP right away.

I need an unshaped connection.

Not so sure. I use webafrica and during the Seacom outage the bandwidth I got was extremely low, and latency spiked big time.
It was almost impossible to watch a youtube video through WA on some days.

Same here - would not have know abt seacom if it was not for the media hype...

Had no such problem with WA during the Seacom outage. Was fast and responsive. Maybe you had a problem on your local exchange/DSLAM. Seems to be happening more and more on Telkom's aging network.

Me either, in fact is was the fastest account I've had, too bad it is pricey and I had to return to Afrihost once SEACOM was up again.

Toward year end I will be closing my account with Telkom. Will be looking for an ISP with Eassy so I have an alternative to Seacom.

And when WACS comes online then I will take one with them so at least if the African east coast has problems, hopefully the west coast will still be okay.

It is not so pricey. You can get data1 for R59 for the 1st gig on subscription, and then use recharge at R45 per 3 gigs to top up.

If you compare it to Do3 it is R194 for 10 gigs vs R239 for 9 gigs. Telkom rips you R49 per gig if you want to top up.

Versus Afrihost, if you use 4 gigs, it is R104 vs Afrihost R116.

Since it uses Sat-3 and not Seacom, it is great as a backup for Mweb uncapped.
