Alright guys, There is sooo much to choose from, please give me your input / comments on what to look for...

Do I really need 1080p or even 1080i? Seeing I have an xbox 360...

Is it better to go for a 40" LCD like Samsung which only supports eg: 480

or something like the 42" GRAND WEGA Rear projection LCD TV which supports 1080i/1080p...?

Don't know much on the subject. Though Has to have HDMI input.

Looking for 40" to 42" But then also not looking to spend a my entire lifesavings on a screen...

Any input is greatly appreciated / knowledge learnt whilst buying LCD tv...

If you can afford the Grand WEGA then why are we having this conversation?

If you gonna use a xbox on it. then get at least 720p

The Grand Wega supports 1080i but scales it down to 720p. But apparently the xbox looks better at 720p than at 1080i.
1080i looks better than 720p only if you plan on looking at your game on pause. The truth is that 1080i only displays 540 lines every 60th of a second while 720p displays, wait for it..... 720 lines. While 1080i has a slight edge in sharpness, it often suffers from a slightly flickery look that can strain the eyes and cause breakup in fast-moving scenes. Most times, 720p and 1080i are just about even-- they each have strengths and weaknesses but you'll be hard-pressed to spot a big difference. And for HD video gaming, 720p is sometimes preferred for its smoother, slicker frame rate.
Game currently has a Sinotec 42" plasma with a HDMI input, 10000:1 Contrast and 1366x768 resolution for R7999. Not bad specs, but I can't comment on the brand.

Depends on the game actually - there are some games designed for 1080.

Throw in a Game extended guarantee (adds 2 or 3 years to the existing one) and then you shouldn't have any return problems. In my experience, if something is going to break, it breaks around the 1 or 2 year mark, and after that it seems to last pretty well.
