Which LNB would be best.....a dual LNB and a four or six port multiswitch or a SatCR cable. With the SatCR cable you only have one cable that you can split right..?

I think the dual LNB with the multiswitch combo will work better....and cheaper...

XtraView or two subscriptions? If the former I believe there are diagrams on MC website for this and other setups.

Dual LNB & multiswitch
You can't split a SatCR, you get ones with 2 legacy ports but I would still go for dual + MS, cheaper & more options later on

@stevenv - xtraview
@Smurfatefrog - thanks for the clarification, dual LNB it is then....

Also, what is the maximum length for the 'heartbeat' cable? The two rooms in our house where the two decoders will go are rather far apart from each other. Well, let me clarify that, not far apart, but if the cable where to be hidden along the ceiling, then it is quite long....I can't give an estimate, but it looks lengthy....
We are planning to link the primary decoder with the screen in the main bedroom and the slave decoder in another bedroom. Both TVs in the main bedroom and lounge are FHD screens. Can the HDMI cable run that far and what would you use instead?

Might delay the shopping till workers day if you guys can guide me on what to buy...

The heartbeat cable has been tested up to 100m, but anything 30m & under shouldn't be a problem.
But remember if you have a 2nd decoder in another room that decoder needs LNB feeds and heartbeat

You can look at using HDMI extending, you can get cables around 20m, longer then that it would be advisable to use Cat5 or Cat6 extenders. Check out www.hdcabling.co.za for all HDMI related stuff
