Hi all..well i chose to stick with intel..but now i need to choose the motherboard :/

At the moment the choice is between Asrock's z77 or MSI z77..
I get it at cost luckely so budget is R3000 for cpu and board..cpu is R2000

So mboard needs to be 1000..so which mboard

For 1k you not going to get a board with 5.1 sound, Uefi and USB 3. I suggest you spend alitle more for those features. Just don't buy gigabyte, Iv have a miserable time with their "dual bios"

@mkhan: I suggest you should look at what technology is available and start reading reviews, things have changed over the past few years. Good features have become a norm and affordable for everyone. You're referring to about 3 years ago...

@djbrendan: Here you go.

I'd go with the ASRock Z77 PRO3 if that will fit in your budget.

Otherwise you could also consider the:
ASRock B75M @ ~ R700 * This one has just 2 RAM slots, but you can still get 16GB of RAM in it for fairly cheap
ASUS P8B75-V @ ~ R1050

I'd only suggest the Z77 chipset if you're going for the i5 3570k CPU, where you'll need a motherboard capable of overclocking the CPU.

So because you have had problems he should not buy it? :wtf:

djbrendan you really should try and get R200 more for the motherboard will give you much more to choose from.

It depends what features you require as there are a few motherboards to chose from but they mostly are very standard there are two motherboards that stand out from them.

One of them is the MSI Z77A-G43 unfortunately it's out of stock, you could try and ask NGRComputers if they will match the price, since I see they still have stock of it: MSI Z77A-G43

Otherwise try and stretch for the ASrock which is also very good bang for buck: ASRock Z77 PRO3 - R1,187.00

Otherwise other motherboards to look at would be:
GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H - R970.00
MSI PH61-P33 (B3) - R589.00 (if you decide on this motherboard you MUST ask Rebeltech to update the BIOS before sending it to you)

That Pro3 ASRock is a really good bargain. Any B75 board will also do (unless you're getting the i5-3570K and not the vanilla version). There's also some nice H77 boards lurking around as well:

MSI B75MA-P45 @ R707
MSI H77MA-G43 @ R1018

Both good boards, both under your budget. I prefer the H77, better SATA layout.

Thanks so far guys..seems a good choice is MSI z77-43 or Asrock z77 pro3

:/ so it comes down to 2...but which one?seems both are very good Mboards

think ill fork out an extra R250 for the i5 3570k and get it done with,,will these motherboards do the OC job?

MSI z77-43 or Asrock z77 pro3

The Z77 mobos we gave would be fine for OC. The G45 is also an excellent budget board with a few more features. You can buy the 43 and save some money for gaming RAM rather, if you don't have it already.

If you can't decide, go Google some reviews on the boards. Then you'll get a good understanding of their differences, which will help you with your final decision.

Nope, he should not buy it cause it has had consistent problems across the range. Try googling Uefi functionality and getting HDMI video and sound to work. This was on a 2k Z77 board by the way.

I bought mid last year and could not find anything with those kinds of specs. However, I could be out of date, technology moves quickly.

I have the MSI Z77A-G43 and it serves me very well I must say. I've never overclocked before, and for my first time, it was as easy as pie and runs very stable.

What? . Been using Gigabyte for many years without any major problems at all. All brands have an issue now and then. As for the Dual BIOS... it saved me once before, so cannot see your logic in being against a BIOS because of a backup facility (Dual BIOS). As for UEFI and USB3.0... that has become the norm a while back already. The B75M series starts as low as R850 and includes SATAIII.

no i dont! thnx for the idea :)

Would Kingston hyper blu work ?..i currently have kingston ddr3 1333MHZ..(normal)

What is the specs of this Kingston Hyper Blu and what's their price? If you already have 8GB DDR3 1333mhz, then you should rather save the cash for something like a better GPU or SSD. However, if you only have 2GB you could get some more, and better, RAM. What GPU do you have currently?

If you think it is a good idea to get better RAM:
1) http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=5344
2) http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=6331
3) http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=4962
4) http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=7915

I'll personally opt for 1 & 2 above.

So you listed four sets of RAM that are all sold out?

DJ, the Kingstons would work pretty well. When I was in PE I sold Hyper-X modules with all the PCs we built. Its cheap, reliable RAM and I like the heatsink designs. However, the returns on RAM from an Intel rig cap out at DDR3-1600. Anything faster than that requires overclocking and extra tweaking and Intel's memory controller is already good. If you just want to add on to the RAM you already have, DDDR3-1333 would be fine.

I have 4GB atm.. of Kingston ddr3..

not sure at what speed it preforms at though! Motherboard seems to be limiting the ram :/ 1066mhz
