Hi all,

I have the following choices in routers...what's the general opinion regarding these models and which would be the better choice from a stability and reliability point of view. They offer very similar features (*I think*) although the Siemens has a USB sharing port which could be useful. Anybody with personal experience with either model?

Siemens Giga 762SX:

Billion 800VGT:

Thanks

I like the Siemens very nice looking modem and also feature rich.

Thanks everyone for their views.

slumdawg - I see you're an owner of a Siemens unit.
Are you happy with it and off the top of your head, pro's and con's?
Also, is it true that the firmware upgrade section of the GUI is disabled?

Thanks.

my billion just gave up the ghost one morning for no reason, R800 down the toilet after only 6months of use....pah! They all k a k just choose which k a k you prefer

I've got a Siemens and it works great, easy to set up, ect. Only down point is that you cannot upgrade the firmware.

Thanks all for the advice. I decided to go with a Billion. Not the model I listed above. I decided not to go with a model distributed by Telkom. Billion and Siemens are not allowed to get involved in warranty exchanges on units supplied through Telkom and as a result Telkom Billion units come with only a 12 month warranty, while Billion offer 24 month on their own units.
I bought the Bipac 7402GXL (includes a 3G USB port for my MC950D 3G modem so that 3G is offered as fallback if DSL fails...quite a nice feature).
I set it up last night and am very happy with all the features it offers.
