Which Municipality for vehicle registration?

Tried the gov.za website but couldn't find specifics. If I purchased a vehicle that was registered in Ekurhuleni, lost the registration papers and now need to reapply for a duplicate, can I do so at my nearest municipality (Tshwane) or do I need to go back to Ekurhuleni?

Anywhere within Gauteng should be fine, using my own logic here, same way you can renew your licence disk anywhere in Gauteng when you car was registered in Gauteng.

You only need to change registration if you move to a new province.

You have to go back to the municipality that it was registered in, in this case Ekurhuleni. The application for duplicate papers also needs to be done by the registered owner.
