What would you guys reckon is the best of the netbooks?
Some of the guys at the office want to get, for travelling, but want to know which is the best model?
Between the Acer Aspire One, MSI, Packard Bell, etc, etc, etc.... they all seem to have the same specs, CPU, RAM, HDD, camera, etc.
But which one would you recommend is the best.
I guess if the hardware is EXACTLY the same ,then one should think about hardware & after sales support etc.
We've got one of the Acer Aspire Ones, with Windows, and 160Gb hdd, 1Gb RAM, (not the 3G one).... the white one.
I saw a Packard Bell at Incredible C... which is a nice 2 tone black/grey.
Who's got the PackBell model... is it good?
U know sometimes 2 different makes with same specs don't always perform the same.
Which manufacturer is better, Acer or Packard Bell? I know Acer, but all I remember of PackBell is the great looking desktop cases they used to make yeeeaaars ago.
Any advice would be appreciated.
(the PackBell is also cheaper than the Acer, R5500 vs >R6K)

IMO, it's always a personal choice. Many people have many experiences with many different brands.

I personally like a Mecer and a HP in that order. Had a DL70 Mecer. Older Mecer's are actually Compal. Newer ones, I think, are all Toshiba.

yaa, I would also go for Lenovo. I have IBM lappie too .
But Lenovo don't do 8.9" with HDD and these okes dont want 10" or flash dsk?
(or where is the S9 on offer locally?)
would prefer Dell... but again, no HDD

not considered Asus EEE?

I dunno about these things, have been looking around, but i see a few guys reccomend them.

The only negative aspect of my AAO is the size and layout of the trackpad - I wonder do they all suffer from this?

I have the asus 804hd eee and really digging it, has an 80gig HD, and at R3000 its total value for money, neven thought a netbook whould replace my laptop, at best use it in meetings but nay this thing+eeebuntu is awesome

IdeaPad S10 - NS84SZA - Black, Red or White.
HP 2133 Mini-Notebook (Linux or Vista) - FU337EA
Dell Inspiron Mini 9 (White or Black) - NBDEIM91681XPB

If you need any help feel free to ask :)

the DELL would be good, but IF it comes with HDD
the users (directors) are quite specific... want black, 1Gb RAM 100Gb + HDD, 8.9" screen. Good performance needed, so no celeron or <1.6Ghz cpu, etc
Sofar looks like the Acer is about the best choice... so many nice 10"-ers available but that adds to size and weight.

I've got an MSI Wind and it's awesome.
Keyboard is excellent although the touchpad isn't amazing. It is still better than the Acer's keyboard.
I'd narrow it down to the MSI and the Lenovo though. MSI has a better keyboard but the Lenovo has a card slot which might be useful.

Try before you buy!

Shops that have items on display. Incredible etc....

Lol, but thats not really trying. If i get one of these, i want to be able to hook it up to the net, and fiddle with it for a few hours and see what the performance is like and battery life. Cant really do that when they on display.

Ideally you'd need to test it for a few days, with all the apps & software you normally use....
I see the Hp Mininote also has 1.6Ghz CPU but not the Atom, the C7-M ???
Is it similar performance as the Atom notbooks?
The Hp seems to be cheaper, with better specs (apart from 120Gb HDD and Windows Vista).... is it a less powerful 1.6 (Celeron?) and Vista reason why its so much cheaper?
Quick Spec: HP Notebook - 2133 - C7-M (1.6Ghz), 1024MB DDRII 667MHz 1 DIMM ,120 GB 5400rpm, 8.9 WSVGA + CAM, Intel 802.11 a/b/g/n,56K, Win Vista Home Basic,Office ready, 1-1-0
