OK so thanks to Piesang I have the full 80 page MTN listing.

Now to decide which phone to go for. Any advice on any of these plz.

Nokia 5800 R 149.00pm
Nokia 6220 (Classic) R 159.00pm
Nokia N78 (Navigator) R 108.00pm
Nokia N80 R 99.00pm
Nokia N82 (8gig) R 139.00pm
Nokia 82 (2gig) R 199.00pm
Nokia N95 (1 gig) R 89.00pm

And does MTN even have stock of the N95 1 gig?

Hey Shaun. Just a few questions before we can help you.

1. GPS?
2. Touchscreen?
3. Good quality camera?
4. Wireless networking?

If you need all of the above, except the touchscreen, take a look at the N82. It's a good size and if you feel the memory is too little you can always buy a 8GB MicroSD card separately.

Also, your final decision might be based on the form factor of the phone: candybar, slider or clamshell? Hope that steered you in the right direction.

N82 is very, very good.
Don't overlook the 6220 classic. It has all the features of the N82 minus the WLAN.

It has everything (almost). 5mp camera, GPS, S60 v.3.2 FP, everything the N95 has.

Go to www.gsmarena.com for a review of the above mentioned cellphones.

:)

To be honest all of the phones I mentioned would be ok. Not looking so much into specs now as much as practicality of use.

The local MTNSP store only seems to have the N82 and 6220 in stock so it may come down to a choice of either one.

In that case I guess it all boils down to which one you prefer. As mentioned previously, the N82 and 6220 are almost identical, except for the weight (114g vs. 90g) and WLAN. The best would be to ask your dealer for a dummy phone and feel which one you prefer.

Oh yes, the R139pm is for the N81 8GB... not really worth it IMO.

BUT!!!! If I had to choose between all the above phones I would go for the 5800Xpressmusic.

That was my first choice :D

But MTN seem to be having stock problems. The local store cannot even tell me when they will get stock. And MTNDirect only do new contracts... no upgrades

The 5800 stock problem is annoying.

You will be very happy with the 6220, don't worry.

That only new contracts thing really gets to me...

But still, is the 5800 not worth the wait? What is a week or so on what has been (for me at least) a 3 month wait??

Could be the last straw for many, but I can take a little bit more:(

My problem is that my contract at Vodacom ends this month..
I need the porting etc. done by Saturday...
