Which one is better: TYTN II or E90

It all depends... each has their strenghts...

I'm not sure if the E90 has GPS, but the TyTNII does and its an awesome phone, and WM6 is a pretty big step forward from WM5...

I don't have a TyTN II but I do have a E90. I had Windows Mobile devices in the past and will never get a Windows Mobile device again.

The E90 is a awesome phone by the way.

Piesang have you ever played around with a HTC TyTN II, because your options will change after you do. I had Nokia's all my life but when I was playing with a friends TyTN II, man it's a whole new world, just like your N95.

I have always had Nokia. I decided to try the TyTN II, as I was having a lot of problems with the E90.

I am really glad that I chose the TyTN.
The Nokia qwerty keyboard is bigger, and easier to use.
The Nokia runs on Symbian, where the TyTN runs on WM6Pro. I definitely prefer WM over Symbian. There are many more application available.
Once you get used to the input method of the pouch-screen, it is difficult to adjust back to normal cellohone usage.

As I carry both phones with me, and use the TyTN more than the E90, I sometimes find myself trying to tap the screen of the E90.

The TyTN II also feels more solid in the hand, and just oozes quality, where the E90 is just another mass-produced phone. Even the packagin on the HTC is better than on the Nokia.
With the Nokia, you get that cheap egg-box material. HTC comes in a high-density foam tray, with different compartments underneath for the accessories.

According to the smartphoneshow, episode 46, the E90 is better than the Tytn II. Link

I personally bought the Nokia E90. Although slightly large, I really like the fact that it's a normal phone, and then you can open it out - pop it on a desk in a restuarant and it's almost like you're using a computer - something I felt I couldn't do with the TytnII.

I think WM6 really wins in the email department, supporting HTML email and using a familiar outlook interface.

Where the TytnII really falls down, is when you're on the way out of the building, id card and laptop in the one hand, phone in the other and you need to sms the missus be home in 5. Can't sms with one hand in the Tytn...can in the E90. One hand phone use is reason enough for me to get the E90.

I have had both, sold my E90, and bought a Tytn II, haven't looked back, the E90 is a horrible phone, I'll never buy a Nokia again. Also, the GPS is useless, lock times take forever, even with the latest firmware, you're a sitting duck for hijackers.

You can, just download one of the various 'thumb' type keyboards apps.

Trust me, been there and done that. It's easier to just put down your stuff and use the proper keyboard.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the phone, the form factor just isn't for me. I've hated countless K-jams and HTC's for that reason and tried lots of different software solutions to solve it. Something has to be said for tactile keys you can feel without having to look at.

Simple things are still one handed on the E90. Jump in my car, and start driving...oh no, I forgot to activate bluetooth. With one hand, I can do the whole menu, bluetooth thing. On the HTC, I need to get the stylus out - or try push little buttons with FAT fingers. Again, not the phone's fault...just my preference.

And on E90 GPS lock time, my phone is incredibly fast...a couple of seconds. I don't know why yours was taking long! :D

Chances are I will go for another touch screen like the Tytn II in the future...at the moment, the two phones I carry around are the iPhone for personal calls and the E90 for business.

The E90 was bashed on this forum (and elsewhere) for various problems but I recently heard there is a large lawsuit looming against HTC (I assume in the States) because of ongoing software/firmware problems. Anyone have some facts on this?

I agree with broken1 ... the E90 is still 100% phone on the outside (one-handed operation a must for me).

I fully agree with the assessment as per the video link provided in #7. E90 = better multimedia, better camera, better build ... and 100% phone (the first priority of a ... phone). And the E90 will only get better (and move ahead further) with improved firmware releases.

@broken1 - I guess everyone has their preference, I only use my Tytn II one handed most of the time, to lazy to slide out the keyboard. As for the bluetooth, theres a button on the today screen that turns it on and off when in my car :) The GPS lock time on my E90 was probably bad because I'd use it in Cape Town, and then only use it again in Johannesburg, and then use it again a week or so later in Louis Trichardt, etc. And the E90 seems to like the GPS being switched on where it was switched off.

@Trafeye - There are also MANY reviews which rate the Tytn II over the E90. The E90 does have better multimedia by standard, it has a higher res screen. BUT it in no way has a better build, just about everyone who's has one ends up with a damaged inner screen due to the keyboard keys, as what happened with mine, saved by a screen protector. As for the camera, I wouldn't know, I never used the E90 or the Tytn II's camera, 3.2MP isn't much to rave about, even with good quality pics.

Another thing I like about the Tytn II is that their are easy available apps for it, I struggled to find usefull apps for my E90, I also like having a touch screen.

Personally, I found the E90 to perform poorly for its intended purpose. Haven't looked back since getting the Tytn II. The only thing I miss on the E90 is the battery life.

lol

@GTi.... believe it or not... I did that often on my E90 too... once when I had a little to much to drink, I was convinced the phone was stuffed....
