hey ppl

I know these are ols processors, but i would would like to know which one of the 2 is better.

Amd Athlon XP 1700+ (1,4ghz)
OR
Intel celeron 2.0ghz (128k)


I ask this question because i wanna buy a third PC to put in the house, i these are the options i'm faced with
 
AMD is better, you can overclock it, and it will outshine the Celeron
 
yep, go for the AMD, even if you dont overclock it, i'm sure it'll perform at least the same as the Celeron
 
i had the amd 1700 for years. works great. the celeron feels dead in comparison.

thats why the call it Advanced Micro devices as opposed to just Intel. just think about it before you ask stupid questions! 8-)
 
decent cooler? waht for,, the old stigma of AMD's being hotter and Intel being more reliable died out about that time period for a reason.

If you wanna OC it then yes, but I doubt you are going to bothe rfor a low performance thing that obviously isnt going to game..

Athlon clock speeds are always lower. It's not as simple as that. It's about teh pipelining.

um... statistical evidence... everyone who has responded has said AMD... and I will add to that. AMD.

Celeron cant even compare to Athlon.
