Mot sure if this is the right place but anyway. In the market for a new smartphone currently have the BB Bold 9000, so here is my dilemma stick with BBOS or switch to Android. iOS doesn't work for me can't stand the idea of being dictated to about how I should use my own phone.

Any suggestions or comments.

Thanks

Depends on your needs. IMO, BB has emailing down and their other services are really cool, but the OS to me feels really clunky. Android looks good, handles easy and is very powerful (with loads of apps on the Market and more coming every day). Android also has a big community (XDA etc.) that are constantly developing stuff for almost all of the various devices. I went for Android at the start of the year and I love the freedom it gives.

Needles to say, you've missed to see the biggest/most used cell OS out there :D Try running 10 java applets in Android (this is android's way of dealing with multi taskings), and you'll quickly see what I mean. Android may have a lot of applications but because is a relatively new OS, most of them are utter crap :(

Which OS would that be symbian or BBOS? Actually I'm open to any OS just looking for high end smartphone that will get me through my next contract.

Get the Bold 9700 which you can update to OS6 or alternatively the 9780 which comes with OS6 loaded.

Tip: Don't buy an OS. List and prioritise the capabilities and functionality you require of the whole device. Get as granular as you can (eg, flash video support, GPS satnav, wifi router capable). This is not easy. You'll have to live with limitations whatever you buy, so you need to know which features are dispensable. Then pick the best matching device whatever the operating system. This is technology, ie a tool, a means, not metaphysics.

For what it's worth (and watch the flames hereunder): apart from the clunky Pocket PC-era UI, WM6.5 is probably the most powerful, capable and flexible smartphone OS out there. It just doesn't look sexy. And almost everyone loves to hate it. That has some appeal for those with an aversion to brand flocks and tribes.

Go Android, it's pure awsomeness. You could also give Symbian^3 a try (Nokia N8). It's really not that bad.
